Lake District, England
June 15-22, 2026

A storybook setting. A slower rhythm. A return to the beauty that lives in your hands and your soul.

There are places that feel like poems.

Where the scent of rain and wildflowers lingers in the air, and your heart and hands long to make something beautiful.

In the heart of England’s Lake District, where Beatrix Potter once wandered and dreamed, we’ll gather for a week of making, resting, and remembering. Through soft pastel skies, hand-bound journals, garden visits, and shared meals, we’ll return to what is tender, tactile, and true.

This is a retreat for the woman who still believes in wonder. Who longs to make something beautiful with her own hands.

Inspired by the words of John O’Donohue, we’ll tend to the inner landscape of beauty -the kind that clears the mind, softens the heart, and reminds us how to look at the world with gentleness and awe.

What We’ll Explore Together

A week of meaningful making, natural beauty, and soul-deep restoration

Each day of the Pursuit of Beauty Retreat is designed with intention: a rhythm of creativity,
connection, and rest. You’ll find structure without pressure, artistry without expectation, and
space to both create and simply be.

Day 1: Arrival & Welcome

You arrive and the world softens. Settle into your room with its beautiful views and let the quiet presence of this place wrap around you like a well-loved quilt. Light refreshments greet you, followed by a lovingly prepared dinner at our manor home. As the sun sets, we’ll gather together - firelight flickering, tea in hand- sharing introductions and intentions for the week ahead.

Day 2: Paper, Place & Process

We begin with paper as the foundation of our creativity this week. After breakfast, you’ll take part in a hands-on papermaking workshop using natural materials and age-old techniques. Then, you’ll step into the soulful world of Moneeza’s Lotus Blu Book Art studio - a space brimming with textiles, textures, and stories. Followed by a warm afternoon tea in the conservatory.

Day 3: Bookbinding Immersion

Learn to bind your very own handmade journal using soft, tactile materials. Moneeza will guide you through two sessions to learn this meditative craft with pauses throughout the day for tea, lunch, and connection. Your finished journal will become your companion for the rest of the retreat. Enjoy a lovely evening dinner at a local favorite restaurant.

Day 4: A Beatrix Potter-Inspired Day

Today, we trace the spirit of an artist who saw magic in mushrooms, hedgerows, and morning mist. We’ll spend the day immersed in the world of Beatrix Potter…learning about her creative legacy, walking the landscapes that shaped her vision, and letting her quiet strength remind us that a creative life can be both gentle and powerful. Expect garden paths, lakeside stillness, and the kind of soft adventure that fills your journal with meaning

Day 5: Painting the Landscape

Valerie will guide you through two soft pastel painting sessions, teaching you to capture light, atmosphere, and emotion through pigments. You’ll spend the day immersed in the practice of materializing the picturesque landscape around you into something meaningful and tangible made with your own hands. Between sessions, we’ll gather on the lawn for tea and picnic fare

Day 6: Gardens & Wandering

A day made for wandering. Think a delicious brunch, garden tour, excursions, and soaking up wild botanicals in bloom. The afternoon invites you to explore nearby villages at your own pace…window shopping, journaling at a café, or simply strolling. That evening, we’ll gather again for a cozy dinner, sharing our small delights and discoveries.

Day 7: Summer Solstice Celebration

Our final full day concludes with light in every sense of the word! After a gentle morning and daytime adventure, we’ll gather for a celebratory dinner under the stars…candles flickering, live music playing, the longest day of the year wrapping us in golden light. There will be gifts, laughter, and the sweet ache of knowing something beautiful just unfolded. You’ll leave filled with inspiration and connections that will stay with you long after our time together has ended.

Day 8: Departure

One last breakfast, shared smiles, and heartfelt goodbyes. You’ll carry home more than just your journal and paintings - you’ll carry the presence, the pause, the beauty. And you’ll return to your everyday life just a little more lit from within.
