For as long as I can remember, all I’ve wanted to do is create art. This creative journey led me to discovering the magical medium of soft pastel during the global pandemic. I was smitten.
Life can be chaotic. I get it.
Slowing down and getting lost in the beauty of nature helps. Through impressionistic, dream-like landscapes, I hope to encourage others to find a sense of peace and calm, in tune with your own truth.
I have a soft spot for lavender everything, back country roads, vintage china, David Austin roses, and getting my hands dirty in the garden as much as in soft pastel dust.
Over the past ten years, I’ve built my professional art career as the Founder and Artist behind the international brand Lily & Val.

When I’m not in my studio, I’m living a creative life with my two daughters and husband in Nashville, Tennessee.

I like to think about my soft pastel landscapes as sidewalk scenes in Mary Poppins, inviting you to just jump right in and get lost for a little while.
Every painting is created layer-by-layer in a meditative process as luminous crystals of pigment are glazed across the surface. The end result is a landscape filled with a texture and charm that has to be seen in person to truly appreciate.
Since there’s nothing between my hands and these pure pigments, I can connect with the marks in such a unique way. It’s a dusty, raw, and messy process!
To see beauty emerge from the dust is like magic. Beauty in the mess. I believe this to be a metaphor for our everyday lives.
